The Making of the Garland of Lilies for the Kentucky Oaks!

Join us for a special event at the Middletown Kroger as we prepare for the 151st Kentucky Oaks with the crafting of the Garland of Lilies. This exciting event will also feature a live broadcast by Mix 1069’s Jordan Rivers from 5-7pm onsite!

Event Highlights:
Live Broadcast: Join Mix 1069’s Jordan Rivers for a live broadcast from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Crafting the Garland: Witness Kroger Master Florists as they create the beautiful Garland of Lilies.
Floral Details:
-Approximately 145 Starfighter Lilies are used for the Garland.
-Italian Ruscus and Gardenia Leaves provide the greenery.
-Each Lily is hand-tied on the Garland with its own water tube, lying on a layer of white tulle.
Special Features:
-The Garland weighs approximately 20 lbs.
-The winning jockey will also receive a Garland of Starfighter Lilies.
History and Tradition:
-Kroger designed the Oaks Garland and crafted the first Garland of Lilies in 1991.
-After completion, the Garland will be placed in a silver glass case and escorted to Churchill Downs..
